PC Savants was the first store in Arizona to offer systems reballs over 10 years ago when all the other shops were selling heat gun repairs.
With this service we remove the RSX processor and replace the solder spheres under it with leaded solder. This is not a permanent fix for YLOD errors, the only permanent repair is to replace the 90nm RSX with a 40nm from a slim or super slim. This can be done to any PS3 but it is intended for backwards compatible models.
ALL 90nm RSX processors are DEFECTIVE. Almost every GPU created from 2005-2008 was defective, these were put in all game consoles, laptops, desktop GPUs. It was a engineering/manufacturing error. We only use PS3 slim and super slim processors as they are not affected by these issues.
The YLOD (Yellow Light of Death) is a general fault that can occur from any component in the system from failing. In FAT consoles with 90nm processors +75% of all YLOD errors are caused by faulty RSX processors.
This is NOT a permanent fix. The length of the repair is dependent on the RSX processor itself. The only permanent fix is the frankenfat service. If anyone tells you that a reball will permanently fix your PS3 is lying.

- System battery replaced with user replaceable CR2032 coin Battery and relocated to the top of the console.
- Bluray Drive cleaned and serviced

Your PS3 will ALWAYS be serviced while on a board jig to prevent board flex. Working on a PS3 board while its laying on a table or your lap is a great way to create an intermittent issue thats difficult to find the cause.
